3k Time Trial Results

On a perfect night for racing in Aug. The teams showed up for warm-up at around 8:00. Women first followed by the men. Womens race went off at 9:00. Ashley Huizar the Junior transfer from Rio Hondo College lead through the mile with splits of 1:27 (400), 2:57 (800), 3:42 (1000), 4:28(1200) and 6:04(1600). Payton Hartman the freshman from Smithville Mo then took over for two laps running 7:39 (2000), and 9:16 (2400). With 800 meters left Kelsi Beam freshman from McPherson, KS took over and pulled away from Hartman going through 2800 in 10:46 and finishing the race off with a 38 sec last 200 for a final time of 11:24. Women's results are listed bellow. We had a new time trial record and four new people in all time top 10.

Mens race started at 9:30. Ankur Joshi a red shirt transfer from San Bernardino Valley College took the lead out of the gate running a 74 second first lap. Art Parra another red shirt transfer from San Bernardino Valley College took the lead for a lap. at the 1000 Daniel Sorenson a red shirt transfer from Cerritos College took the lead going through in 3:06 and never gave it up. His remaining splits were
3:42(1200), 4:52(1600), 6:01(2000), 7:10(2400), 8:20(2800), 8:52(3000). We had a new time trial record and six new people in the top 10. Full results bellow.

All in all I was very pleased with the effort and it is a good starting point for the season. Now we have two and half weeks until we race at Wichita State meet, where the Women will race a 4k and Men will race a 6k. I like the set up of having shorter distances as it eases them back into things.
