ACCK

Sterling, Kan. – Twenty top-four finishes and 26 personal bests later, the McPherson College track and field team put a cap on their third meet of the outdoor season at Saturday’s ACCK Championships. The meet was hosted by Sterling College in Sterling, Kan.

Junior Andrea Swanson crushed her already NAIA National Meet qualifying mark of 12.91-meters (42’-4.26”), which she set earlier in the season at the McPherson Invitational, with a throw of 13.37-meters (43’-10.37”) in the shot put. The throw surpasses the NAIA National ‘A’ Standard mark of 12.95-meters. The Littleton, Colo. native also set personal bests in the discus (31.44-meters) and in the hammer throw (40.58-meters).

Freshman Shireana Robinson finished the day with a fourth place finish in the 200 and 400-meter dash. Robinson posted season best times of 00:26.75 (200-meters) and 01:04.74 (400-meters), respectively.

Other notables from the women’s team include, sophomore Krissa Fuentes recording a season best mark of 31.84-meters (104’-5.54”) in the discus, while freshman Sonia Fuentes took eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.91.

On the men’s side, the Bulldogs had 19 athletes competing. MC tallied 17 top four finishers. Sophomore Javier Ceja stole the show by winning both the 800-meter run and the 1,500-meters. Ceja recorded his best times of the season, including a 2:03.26 in the 800-meters and a 4:09.25 in the 1,500-meters.

Sophomore David Parry set a personal record in the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:26.19, as the Bulldogs finished the race with four out of the top five positions.

Other highlights of the day included senior Antowine Lamb and freshman Garrett Sharp finishing first and third in the high jump, while MC’s 4x800-meter relay team of Javier Ceja, Kyle Smith, Anthony Leal and David Parry dominated with a time of 8:13.30, 41 seconds faster than the second place team.
